The left side of the slide is marked with the two line elongated Hartford address/1897-1913 patent dates. 38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT/SUPER. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with an "I" above the Colt "VP" triangle proofmark and the opposite is marked with the number "20". The serial number is located on the right side of the frame behind the slide release lever hole. There is a low profile blade front sight and a square notch dovetail rear sight. The magazine has a two tone finish, marked "38 AUTO/COLT" on the bottom, checkered arched mainspring, long grip safety and a finger groove on the frame. The pistol has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish, blue barrel with the chamber polished and is factory fitted with checkered walnut grips. 38 that was manufactured in very early 1929, the first year of production. This is an exceptional example of a Colt Super.
